Dental Bridge in Atlanta, GA

A bridge is a dental restorative appliance that can fill the gap left by one or several missing teeth. It is made of a pontic, an artificial tooth supported on either side by your natural teeth or by crowns. Dental bridges are generally made from metal, porcelain, or ceramic materials. These appliances have become one of the most popular choices in recent years, given their durable and discreet qualities.

At Pharr Road Dentistry, we offer patients premium bridge solutions that can restore the oral functions and aesthetics of a smile.

Benefits of a Dental Bridge

There are several reasons you would need a bridge. The most common reasons are to replace a missing tooth or teeth and to provide support for existing teeth.

A dental bridge delivers the following key benefits:

  • Reinstate your ability to eat foods
  • Restore your smile
  • Maintains the shape of your face
  • Improves your bite
  • Prevent the adjacent teeth from shifting out of position

Types of Dental Bridges

  • Cantilever Dental Bridge

Cantilever bridges are standard and used only when one adjacent tooth is present next to the void. This process is not suggested in the back of the mouth, as it can put more pressure on the adjacent teeth, resulting in further damage.

  • Maryland Dental Bridge

Maryland dental bridges require two natural abutment teeth on both sides of the void and are best suited for patients with missing frontal teeth. They are fabricated from porcelain fused to metal or ceramic teeth, supported by a framework, and cemented to the abutment teeth.

  • Implant-Supported Dental Bridge

In implant-supported bridges, the false tooth is anchored by dental implant studs and is considered a more durable alternative. The implant studs serve as artificial tooth roots, on top of which the bridge framework is placed.

What Happens During a Dental Bridge Process?

Receiving a dental bridge requires at least two visits to our dental office. During your first visit, we will reshape the supporting teeth by removing part of the enamel. Next, we will capture an impression of your teeth and send the data to a laboratory that will deliver the bridge in a few days. Meanwhile, we will fit you with a temporary bridge to protect the exposed areas from damage until the permanent bridge is ready.

During the subsequent visit, we will check the fit of the dental bridge and finally cement it permanently in place.
